After a period of air drying to relieve the boards of excess moisture, we finish dry and sterilize them in our kilns before offering the finished, raw wood slabs to you. We don’t cut the bark edges off as to leave the natural “live edge” intact. Our sawing technique called “slabbing” means that once we choose the direction to slice, we make repeated parallel cuts until all boards are freed. This figure can be difficult to see in a rough board for the untrained eye, but once our raw wood slabs have been finished you will be captivated by the depth and movement as the grain tells the story of its life.
